Eleanor had created labels for her jam and marmalade jars which simply had her name, printed in Comic Sans. She soon realised this wasn’t recognisable and memorable – or even a logo really! – and decided she’d like a brand design which conveyed her business.
So, the brief was to design something simple and colourful, in a block shape so it’s easy to display on the jar labels – and for social media profiles.
What’s great about using icons or symbols like the little jar illustrations is that they can pulled out of the logo and be used for future marketing materials and artwork for websites and social media.
The colours used reflect the fruit packed within each jar; the yellow/orange of lemons/oranges used for making marmalade, the pink for strawberries and raspberries for jam and the purple for blackberries for preserves and chutneys. I thought this was a nice nod to the beautiful and local ingredients which are used to create these gorgeous handmade products.
The typefaces work really nicely together; the handwritten style combines so well with the simple, block sans serif font. They are both clear but so effective.
